Release date tweak

Because of the decision to change my adult books name from D B Shan to Darren Shan, there has been a slight tweak to the publication schedule for the paperback editions in the UK. The paperback of Hell’s Horizon, which was due to be released this September, has now been pushed back to March 2010, when it will be released at the same time as the Trade Paperback edition of City of the Snakes — both will be released under the name of Darren Shan. Also at that time, a new edition of Procession of the Dead will be released, again under the name of Darren Shan. Finally, the paperback edition of City of the Snakes will now be released in August 2010, instead of October 2010, so as to avoid clashing with my children’s book that month.

R.I.P. D.B.!!!!!

D B Shan is dead — long live Darren Shan!!!!

Bookstove

The name of this book is Procession of the dead and it is part of Darren Shan’s third series, and unlike The Saga Of Darren Shan and The Demonata it’s his first adult series and is most certainly in no way suitable for children. This is the first book in The City Trilogy.

Concatenation

Darren Shan is the writer of two popular series for children, The Saga of Darren Shan and The Demonata. This is his first adult work, originally published in 1999 under the title Ayuamarca: Procession of the Dead, but has been extensively revised for this ‘director’s cut’ edition. I really enjoyed this book.

Booktopia

Book 2 in The City Trilogy, a gritty urban fantasy series for adults by the author  also known as Darren Shan. Based in an unnamed city run by the enigmatic, all-powerful Cardinal, Hell’s Horizon is at heart a noirish murder mystery furnished with shady, near-mythic underworld characters. Animated by links to the City’s ancient Incan ancestors and filled with Shan’s trademark supernatural horror. The legion of fans of Darren Shan’s teenage horror won’t be disappointed. I also highly recommend the first book in The City Trilogy - The Procession of the Dead

Good Reads

Last year Harper Collins blessed me with an advance edition of “Procession of the Dead”, the first in “The City” series, which ended up being one of my fave books of 08. I eagerly picked up the sequel when it came out this last week.

The summary of this book is going to be very hard to understand if you haven’t read the first book. You can read my review of Procession of the Dead for a fuller understanding of the story without any spoilers. This second book starts off with completely different characters within The Cardinal’s Troops, his own personal police/security force. The plot runs parallel with the first novel with very few crossover’s until the end.
