City of the Snakes UK cover
This is the cover for the trade paperback edition of City of the Snakes in the UK. It will be released under the name of Darren Shan in March 2010. I am SO psyched about this book finally seeing the light of day!! For me, it’s the best book of the trilogy by quite a long margin — I hope you guys think so too when you read it!!! I also love the cover that Harper Collins have come up with — verrRRRRRy etheral!!!!! Please click on the thumbnail image to enlarge.

sweet, i can’t wait!
Although I always pictured the cover to be a dark poisonous green with a mass of writhing snakes on it.

This cover looks better than the discarded one, great job with the City trilogy, just read Procession of the Dead, gripping book and i loved it.
Keep up the good work and thanks for the good reads, yes I’ve read your other works, great storylines there too

Hey man, i’ve read Procession and thought it was awesome, can’t wait to get Hell’s Horizon.
But why are you changing you’re cover name? I bought procession before i knew it was you, just thought it was a coincidence of surnames, when i found out it was cool. So why change the name? It’ll look so disjointed when the trilogy is physically put together, and will annoy the hell out of every book shop in the world XD
But seriously, you should keep it as DB Shan.
Also, anyone out there know where i can get an original printing of Ayuamarca???
Thanks loads

Since my 12th I’m a fan of Darren Shan. I got the Saga in Dutch, from the Demonata I got the first 8 in Dutch (living in Belgium and book 6-10 in English as well. I discovered this series under the name D.B. Shan, bought the first one, read it and decided to buy the other two (in English). I got the third book today (bought online at Waterstones) and I must say I’m a bit dissappointed. The book is larger than the other two (all in paperback)… I don’t really mind the name change, but the change of format… *tisk tisk*

Actually, the first 2 books were also released in that format originally. It’s called a trade paperback. They were then re-released as mass market paperbacks (in the smaller format) several months later. The third one will also be released in a smaller format eventually.
